Escentials Urban Retreat, Starhill

I badly need a massage and since I had to pick up something from Starhill, I decided to go for a massage in Starhill. Might as well right?

I didnt know which spa to go to in Starhill and after walking around, I decided to give ....... a go.

They had a special promotion going on until end of this month if you use the Ambank Platinum/Gold credit card. Fantastic.

The massage was one half hour and costs RM288 but with the special promotion, you buy one, you get one free. So basically it was half price :)

The place is amazing. I love the colour and the decor of the spa. Very posh and very elegant. It was bloody freezing in there tho.
The room was nice too.

First we were given a form to fill up. They need to know if you have any special needs/requirements or if you have any illness that they should know etc.
We were also given a hot towel and fruit tea before we start our treatment.

Then we were directed to our room and given disposable underwear and a set of kimono to change. Once we got changed, we were told you lie on the bed facing down and then the treatment started. I think the bed was somewhat heated cuz it felt really nice and warm and so comfortable.

My therapist was good too. Pressure was excellent and technique was superb. I didnt want it to end. It was a combination of pressure point massage and relaxation massage. I was in heaven.

It was a good deal for the price we paid. I wanna go back again to try something else. To me, this was definitely a good experience but only thing was, it was too short. One and half hours massage is not long enough for me. They didnt spend that much time on my back, which was a pity cuz it was soo good that I wish it was longer!

I really cant wait to go back.

If you are interested, pls call for appointment.
My therapist's name is Aminah. She is good and I highly recommend her...
Joe's therapist name is Carynn. He said she's excellent too.

Dont forget to bring your Ambank Credit Card along.
It's worth it.

Cozy®, Jakarta

I was in Jakarta few weeks back and was looking for the place called Cozy since the first day I got there. I had such a great experience in Bali at Cozy so I couldnt wait to try the branch in Jakarta.

I stayed at Ascott and asked them if they heard of Cozy. They told me that they've heard of the place but have no clue where it is. They even tried looking for it in the phone book and internet but it was not registered under that name so they couldnt find it.

I was quite disappointed.
And then I remembered that I kept the leaflet from Bali and it is still in my bedroom at home. So I phoned my mum in KL and told her to search for the leaflet. She found it and gave me the telephone number in Jakarta.

Yeay!!!!!

It was quite hard to find the place. Luckily the driver had some idea how to get there. The area was quite dodgy actually. Like half kampung and half town kinda thing. But when I got there, it looked the same as the Bali branch. Signboards and colour of the place and the feel is the same.

First they asked me what kind of treatment that I want.
Then they asked me what kind of music I'd like to hear and gave me the ipod.
Next they asked me if I wanted any drink/juice.

I asked for:

1. 1 half hours of foot massage. It was da BOMB! Loved every minute of it.
2. Since I was in Jakarta, I asked for Indonesian song cuz I'm sure they're nice
2. I also ask for Ginger and Honey tea

I had the best time ever and didnt want it to end. It was exactly like Bali.
I love every minute of it.

To top that, I also discovered this Indonesian artist called Afgan. The ipod was playing his song. I've never heard of this dude before but now I know an Indonesian song that I like. :)

Cant wait to come back....but perhaps, Bali is a better location...

Vino Therapie @ Energy Day Spa, Ampang

It's the time for Spa again and this time I decided to go back to Energy Day Spa. I think I quite like it there. So I called the Spa in Mont Kiara to make an appointment but unfortunately, they were fully booked. When it's time for Spa, I really cannot wait even for another day so I decided to call the Ampang branch instead. It's at the Great Eastern Mall. Thankfully, they had a slot available.

I opted to try the Vino Therapie Renewal which is a spa package that uses products made from extracts of red grapes. It is meant to be good for detox and anti ageing.

Treatment:

1. 10 minutes in the steam room - Was nice as usual
2. An hour of body scrub and mask - I didnt enjoy the scrub at all but the mask was those really cool ones where they wrap you in this super warm blanket. Felt quite good actually
3. An hour massage - It was alright, nothing to shout about
4. Finally the grape foot bath - Which was no big deal

All the above for RM638 per couple.

Verdict:

Well, overall it was an average experience for me. I really didnt like the scrub cuz I felt like it wasnt as thorough as I was expecting. The mask was pretty cool. It was nice and warm. The massage was ok but not great. I fell asleep tho, so it must be pretty ok. I didnt understand the foot bath at all. I dont see why they included that in the package cuz it was really nothing. Just soak our feet in there and that was it.

The place was really nice tho. I like the decor and all that. It's bigger than the Mont Kiara branch. I think I still prefer to go back to Mont Kiara cuz the place is small and really cozy.

But this was not that bad. I will probably go back but not to do this treatment again.Perhaps something else....

Ear Candling

I had breakfast at La Bodega one morning and walked past CN Beauty. They had all sorts of promotion going on and I decided to step inside to see what they have.

They do all sorts of things there. From facial to massage to whatever, you name it, they do it.

I spent almost half an hour with the beautcian. She was telling me about some facial treatments that they have that will be good for me. Maybe I will give it a go someday.

They also do ear candling and since I wanted to do something, why not this?
With the promotion that they have going on now, it will only cost me RM50!

The whole thing was alright. I've done it before so it's nothing new to me.
You basically just need to lie down and they'll massage your neck and ears. At the end of the session you are supposed to feel 'lighter' and better.

Hmmm...did I?
Well, not really. I feel the same but it's still good to know that I've done something good for myself today.

SPA-rty

SPArty. SPA-Party. Get it? :P

My best friend is getting married next week and I had organised a pampering session for the bride to be and some girlfriends.
Also, it's been a long week for me as well and I need some major pampering session.

Because this is a much needed session (for me, more than the bride to be!), I wanted to go to somewhere 'safe'. Somewhere I trust will do a good job. I didnt want to try somewhere new for this session.

I dediced to go to Energy Day Spa in Mont Kiara. The place is just lovely and it's cozy enough for 4 girls to spend some time for a few hours.

I called them up to make an appointment for Saturday. Yippieee!!! I'm so excited. I think I am more excited than the soon to be bride. Ah well..

For 4 people or more, they have this promotion where you can enjoy:

1. Steam Bath
2. Salt Glow Scrub
3. Foot Bath
4. Body Massage
5. Healthy Spa Cuisine

all for only RM250.00 per person! That's a good deal if you ask me.

My massage was 'da bomb'... It was sooooooooo good that I didnt want to fall asleep cuz I want to enjoy every minute of it but I couldnt cuz it was soooooo good that I fell asleep! I think at one point I was actually snoring (and I never snore) and I woke myself up cuz I got the shock of my life! heheh...
Sound stupid. How can you wake yourself up from snoring, right? Trust me, it can happen and it happened!
Anyway, it was the best massage I ever had. Confirmed!!!

While the therapist was scrubbing me, I asked her a few questions. My dream is to have my own spa someday so I wanted to do some 'research' :P
Her name is Lina and she's indonesian. She used to work for Thalgo in Mandarin Oriental. When she told me that, I immediately felt 'safe'. She must be quite good.
She's been working for Energy Day Spa for 4 years. I cant believe this place has been up and running for 4 years and I only knew about it this year?!! OMG!!

I just cant say enough about the massage. I love it! I love it! I love it!

After the massage and after the whole thing, the girls and I had a healthy spa cuisine at the rooftop. We were given a menu earlier before our treatment started.
I decided to have the pumpkin soup (yum yum) and the rest had salad and other stuff.
We also had a choice of fruit juice. I had the strawberry and banana and orange juice. It was so yummy.

Everyone had a nice time except for one of the girls. For some reason, her therapist did not massage her front. Didnt massage her legs and tummy. She said that the girl kept massaging her shoulders and neglected her legs while she was lying down face up.
Weird. We think her therapist fell asleep. She said at one point when the therapist was massaging her shoulder, she just kept still for almost 2 minutes.

So this girlfriend of mine werent happy at all. Poor thing.
I'm happy I didnt get that therapist!!! :)

Before we left, we complaint and told the spa manager what happened. The therapist denied everything and said she did massage her legs and front. She said my friend must have fallen asleep and they argued for abit and then the manager said ok, she'll give an extra 30 minutes massage the next time my friend comes back.
Well, I dont think she'll be going back there, that's for sure.
She was too angry that the therapist denied it and accused her of falling asleep!

Too bad that happened cuz everyone else had a good time and enjoyed their time there.
I feel quite bad for recommending her to come there cuz she clearly wasnt pleased.

Anyhow, I enjoyed my session and in fact, I loved it...

I cant wait to go back!!!

When? Next week?

This this couple's promotion going on there now..

The Vino Therapy Renewal Package
- Steam Bath
- Body Polish and Mask
- Massage
- Foot Bath

for RM638 per couple!

Yahoo......

Definitely going there to check this out..

Scrub & Massage

I took a package at Khareya for the massage and I'm left with another session there. I love the massage the cuz they're really good.

I made an appointment and asked for the same girl to massage me, her name is Novi.
I remember her name cuz I had a good friend in University from Jakarta with that name.
So anyways, this time, instead of just going for a massage, I decided to go for a body scrub as well.

The lady at the spa told me that they have a new range now. Apart from the usual products they also have this new range of Dewi Sri Spa products. She told me to pick which scrub I want. The smell were all very fruity and nice and yummy. I couldnt decide. It was all lovely.

In the end, I picked the tea tree or something like that. Lovely.

Scrub was good as usual and massage was fantastic.
I asked Novi for stronger pressure massage and it was sooooooooo nice. Very strong, just like how I like it. At times, it was a bit too strong that I didnt get to sleep but still, I loved it.

I love Khareyana Spa. I want a spa like that so I can be there 24/7
:)

Massage at Home

My friend recommended me to this kakak sometime last year. Her name is Kak Ilah and she's pretty good.
She does traditional massage, manicure & pedicure, facial and scrub as well at the comfort of your own home.

If you need a massage but cant be bothered to go to the spa, you can give her a call. She does house calls for just RM50 per hour. She goes as far as Shah Alam.

I've recommended her to some of my friends and they seem to agree that she's good.
Only thing is, she talks alot so dont start being too friendly. I normally prefer to go to a spa because I can get my body scrub and all done there at the same time and be out of the house but whenever I need a massage at home, this is the lady I would call.

Try her...

Sifu Reflexology

I just had one of the best foot massages ever and cant wait to share the experience.

Normally I go to Sri Petaling for reflexology but once in a while, I do go to other places as well. The reflexology in Sri Petaling is nice because it relaxes me and the technique they use is not the painful kinda reflexology. It wont make me jump out of the seat kinda thing but sometimes, I like the painful foot massage cuz it makes me feel really relaxed after the session. I actually like the pain to be honest.

So anyways, each time I decide to go for the slightly more painful type of foot massage, I’ll go to Sifu in Bangsar Telawi. It is situated right next to T Club, which is next to Starbucks.

In Sri Petaling reflexology, they would normally force you to drink a glass of water for each feet. They first massage the left, then the right and then go back to the left and then the right. Approximately spend about 15 minutes each side. So that’s like 4 glasses of water. They will bug you until you drink that water. Since it’s puasa and I cant drink that 4 glasses of water for every 1 hour session of foot massage, I decided to go to Bangsar instead. This place, they don’t force you to drink at all…

Last night I went there at 12.00am and boy it was one helluva good foot massage.
I don’t know what techniques they use but it reminds me of my favourite reflexology place in Bali. All the workers in Sifu are from Sabah.

You should try it…it’s really good!

I’ve been here many times and they’re good.
If you happen to be around that area in Telawi you should give it a go.
They also do body massage and all sorts of other stuff which I have to try soon!

Ask for Jim, Henry or Hassan to give you a good foot massage. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Freckles?! Noooo!!!!

I had my facial last week at Dermalogica. My usual beautician was off on that day so I had another beautician to do the facial for me.

I told her to do the same treatment I did the last time, which was:

1. Skin Polishing
2. Neck Facial
3. Eye Treatment

Before the facial, she did a check on my skin. She told me that I have pigmentation (freckles. Yeah, I knew that.
Somehow, she managed to freak me out. I'm a malay, I have brown skin so why do I have freckles? I usually associate freckles to fair people, like the mat salleh or the chinese and it's funny to me that I have them. Especially since I dont expose myself to the sun at all. Most of the them I'm indoors.

After the facial, I decided to get a sunblock. I actually have one but I dont really like how my skin feels after applying that Shiseido sunblock. It's spf 50 though and it was only RM99.00. Bargain!!
I finally got myself this Dermalogica sunblock instead. RM236 for a smaller bottle.
But nevermind, I bet it's a lot better.

So hopefully no more new freckles!

Professional Make Up

My engagement is coming soon and I dont know where to get my make up done.
I've done my make up in MAC KLCC before but my other half seem to think that I look 'weird' after the make up. The make up artist himself looked pretty weird so when my boyfriend saw him 'painting' my face, he already had that idea that all that make up will look weird on me. Also because he doesnt like me wearing too much and I dont look like myself. Me on the other hand feel that I look better with make up, especially extreme make up on! So, a little bit of a dilemma there.

This lady in MAC did my make up once and she was good. She sold over RM2000 worth of products to me that time. She made me look like a better version of myself. Natural look. I remember it was probably 5 years back and I went there to purchase make up for university. Yes, I was really vain!
I asked her for make up I could wear to uni. So she recommended a whole bunch of stuff and in the end, she gave me a free makeover. I looked so good that day.

That night, I went out with my then boyfriend. He didnt say a word about how I looked and I was like, "heelllloooo, cant you tell that I'm wearing make up?!"
And he was like "ohhh...no wonder you look different, I was just thinking to myself that you look different and prettier today" hmm...dont know whether he was just trying to cover his ass or it was a real sincere compliment but I think I'll just take it as that!

So this lady at MAC, her name is..hmm.......shida or something like that. She still works there cuz I see her there sometimes but it's so hard to get hold of her. She's always not there. Perhaps I could try and get her to do my make up for the engagement.

Any other suggestions??

Hammam style

It's time for my monthly spa Sunday. I havent been pampering myself much lately. I guess I've been busy. Initially I wanted to go to one of those Martha Tilaar Spa but when I called the Dewi Sri Spa in Hartamas, unfortunately, it is a ladies only spa and I wanted to drag my other half along with me so I had to pick a different spa.
But which?

I did my research online and decided to give Hammam Spa a go. I read some of the reviews on the internet and they all say the same thing. That it's different. Really different from the other spas. So I thought I might as well check this out.

I called them on Saturday to make an appointment for Sunday morning but they were fully booked. The only slot available for Sunday is at 3pm.

We got there on time and we had to fill up a form since it is our first time there. We were also informed of the treatment that we're going to get, which is called Royal Couple Hammam. Sounds 'grand'....must be good...
The explanation was really clear and we sort of knew what to expect. I had already read reviews on this spa so I roughly know what to look for and all that but my other half still looked a bit confused.

When we first got into the spa, it was really different. I dont know how to explain but it is really nice inside. You surely wont expect it to look like that if you walk past the spa from outside. It's really nice inside. Makes you feel like you're in Morocco or something. Reminds me Aladdin :)

First was a step inside the steam room. It's not like those typical steam room at all. Its really different. You just have to go and experience it yourself. You really cant see where the steam or heat is coming from but the marble walls are all hot and it's humid in there. But it's not too warm, it's just nice.
The therapist will then ask you to remove the robe (basically you're topless and will only have your disposal underwear on!) and she will shower and soap you! I was expecting this (from the reviews that I've read) but still was not prepared for it! It's just weird...but I try to not think about it too much. I just let her do her job.
This moroccan lady showered me with warm water first and then she will apply this black cream thingy (cant remember what it's called) and this is suppose to open your pores or something like that. I was left in there for about 10 minutes. I was told to lie down in that room. The walls are all warm and it was a bit uncomfortable to just lie down on the marble but it wasnt too bad cuz I fell asleep for about 5 minutes.

Then I was brought to the room next door and thats where the scrubbing starts. She put on this hand mit thing and starts scrubbing. You can see this black stuff coming out of you...layers of dead skin cells. Once that is done, she will shower you again and bring you back to the steam room and put on the body mask and leave you to lie down in there again for another 10 mins. Again, I fell asleep. It's so easy to fall asleep in there but it was so uncomfortable. Especially since I feel so exposed!

After that she showered me to remove the mask and then soaped me with the shower gel.
She also washed and shampooed my hair. I really felt like a princess. I didnt have to do anything myself. It's like you just sit there and she'll do everything for you.
I could get used to that :)

Next we were brought to the private room to get our massage. The room was really nice and cozy and the bath tub area was nice and romantic. With candles and all.
It really was romantic in there. We were told to relax and have a glass of water and some snacks before the massage.

The 75 minutes massage was also very nice. I really enjoyed it a lot.
I really needed that. It was perfect.
I seldom fall asleep during massages cuz I would normally be complaining in my heart about how I wish the pressure was stronger or talking to myself in my heart about the spa or something but this time, I was really totally relaxed.
I fell asleep.

When I woke up, it was almost over. I was a bit disapointed that I was asleep rather than enjoying the massage. I remember how she massaged my legs and it was so nice. I remember she massaged my shoulder and that was nice too and then that's it. I was on cloud 9 and in another world.

Finally it was time for the bath. That was normal...nothing great...with roses and all so that was nice.

It's surely was a different experience. I'd come back again for sure.

I quite like being 'royal'

The couple spa - Royal Couple Hammam took about 3 hours all together and cost RM650.
But until 15th August, we get 20% off so it only cost us RM520. Not bad at all.

You have to try this spa. Just for the experience of being treated like a turkish princess :)

Dewi Sri Spa Reviving Scrub

This is the best body scrub ever!

As far as I know, Khareyana Spa uses Dewi Sri Spa by Martha Tilaar products. I love the feeling after my trip to Khareyana that when I was in Bali, I purchased this Reviving Body Scrub. I actually got it because I just love the smell.

When I got home, I tried using it and the result was amazing. My body never felt softer after a DIY at home scrub. This is a good product. I regret not getting the body lotion :(

I wonder if they sell it here in KL. I'm sure they do...

Petua

I went to my tailor's today to make the dress for my engagement next month and the first thing she said to me was "sudah put on weight sikit ka?" and I was like "hmmm....sikit la". I mean, what else can I say right? She told me that I look 'bigger' especially my face. argh...
So I made sure she took new measurements..just in case..

While she was taking my measurements, she said I'm actually still ok. She said luckily my arms are still skinny and because of that, I dont look THAT big. Hello!!! I'm not big ok!

I told her that my concern is actually just my tummy n also my butt. It's in the family, I cant run away from that. She told me a petua...

Tailor: Lepas u makan....jangan duduk for setengah jam
Me: Hah? Jangan duduk? Then nak buat ape?
Tailor: Buat apa saja tapi jangan duduk
Me: hmmmm.........(Confused cuz I dont know what to do) ok!
Tailor: Jangan mandi lepas makan
Me: ya...ok...

So I found out 2 things today:

1. Dont sit after a meal. Go for a walk or do something...
2. Dont have a shower after a meal

Hopefully this will work. I doubt I'll do it cuz I like to lie down after a meal.
heheh......no wonder I have such a fat tummy!

sigh...

I need to loose weight before 31st August (Engagement).. I'm gonna start using my OGAWA Magic Belt

Multivitamin Power Firm

I invested RM199 on this new eye cream. Hopefully it works.

I've been using Total Eye Care, with spf 15 (By Dermalogica) for over a year now but I cant really see the difference. I guess it's probably because I dont really use it everyday. But I use it almost everyday! So it should work, a little bit shouldnt it?

Although some people have told me that I dont look my age (ahem ahem), whenever I look at myself in the mirror, to me...I look old. I kinda look my age :(
especially in photos. I dont like taking photos of myself anymore.

I decided to invest on another eye cream. Apparently using just total eye care is not enough and I was told to apply Multivitamin Power Firm at night and Total Eye Care during the day.

Multivitamin Power Firm is supposed to reduce lines around the eye and lip area. It is also good to firm the skin and can improve smoothness.

(Fingers crossed)

The BEST body scrub : Khareyana Spa
The BEST massage : Khareyana Spa or Energy Day Spa, Mont Kiara

If you can combine all the above and have one spa with all that, that'll be fantastic!!!

BodyWorks Spa, Bali

The GM of Sun Island recommended for me to try this spa out. In fact, he gave me 2 options but somehow or rather, they (the villa) booked this one instead of the other one. I think the other one was fully booked or something like that.

I arrived on time for my appointment at 10am. I decided to go for 2 hours massage and that package includes scrub and bath, which means, the actual massage was only about an hour or so.

I was told to wait a moment, while they prepare the room and all that. The spa is huge. It's like a whole villa. Kind of have that roman feel to it.

When I got to the room, I was shocked to see the size. It's huge. Very old-ish feel and it reminds me of Roman Bath. It's different than any other spas I've been to, that's for sure.

Treatment started with the massage. Massage was good and better than the one I had at the Sun Island Spa. It was above average. The massage went on for about an hour or so followed by the scrub. Hmm.....Scrub was ok too but not that thorough.
I still feel that Khareyana's Scrub is the best so far. This one was ok...but they didnt really scrub me that well.

After the scrub, the therapist gave me a shower. After the shower, she covered me with yogurt and left it for about 5 minutes. It felt really weird. Never had yogurt on me before. I think it is supposed to be good for the skin. Apparently the yogurt's enzymes can stimulate cell activity and restore the PH balance of the skin and it's suppose to make your skin feel soft. Hmm.....I guess its true.

Finally it's the flower bath. That was quite nice. The bath was HUGE. I spent about 10 minutes in there and then got changed and treatment was over.

Overall it was good. Above average but I'm sure there are better spas in Bali. In terms of the place itself, it was different but I was hoping to try a traditional Balinese spa. You know, with the nice Balinese architecture and all that. But this one is different so it is a rather pleasant experience.

I really cant wait to go back to Bali to try other spas.

Cozy® Bali

I couldnt wait to start blogging about this place. This is my favourite place in the world! he he he...

When I was at the Villa, the GM recommended for me to try the 1.5 hours foot reflexology at Cozy®. I was like "Whhhatt??! 1.5 hours??! R u serious??!"
He told me that this is the best place to have a foot massage.
I told him to make an appointment for me to check this place out.

My appointment was at 6pm and I was there right on time. I couldnt wait to start I suppose. I was so excited. This place is situated in Kuta. On one of their main roads so I've actually drove past this place and saw the huge signboards a couple of times before. Didnt know what to expect but it looks alright.

When I got inside, I was shocked to see so many people. There's 2 reception area (or was it 3?) to sign people in. Can you believe? And then there's a juicebar behind the centre reception. Once I got there, they took my name and I was told to take a seat at the juicebar. I was tempted to order a drink but at the same time, I was too amazed at the traffic coming and going out of this place that I completely forgot about ordering a drink!

I waited a long while for someone to come to me. About 15 minutes later, this lady came up to me and asked me to pick the oil for my foot massage. I chose the relaxation one. Nice smell of lavender.
Next, I was told to choose my music. WHATTT???!!! You can choose the music you want to listen to during the massage? This is wayyyy too cool.
I picked Jazz music. I think they had all sorts, Rock, Classical, Indonesian etc. You name it.

Only about another 15 minutes later the lady called my name "Ibu Zura..." hhmmm....
I was brought upstairs to the massage area on the first floor. Waooooooaaaaaa!!!!!!!
The area was so nice. It's all white and baby blue decor and they even had fish tanks opposite each massage chair. Too bad we were'nt allowed to take photos. I was in heaven.

The massage was FANTASTIC! The BEST I'VE EVER HAD! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really really in heaven.
I was also given an ipod to listen to my chosen music. Unfortunately, I didnt know how to operate the damn thing properly so I had no choice but to listen to some weird song, some arabic-ish type of music but kind of funky and kind of jazzy.

On the table next to me, they had this cute note book where you can share your experience. I read some of the stuff written and they all seem to love their massage.
I was tempted to write something but I was too focused on enjoying my massage that I didnt want to do anything else but close my eyes and think of wonderful beautiful thoughts.

After the over an hour long of foot massage, I was also given a head, neck and shoulder massage. It was the best EVER!!! Really. Im not kidding.

All that for guess how much???
Approximately RM25! For an hour and half foot massage with neck, head and shoulder massage as well. You get to listen to the ipod, look at nice fishes in the tank and all that. It really trully was the best experience ever.

If you are in Bali, pls drop by this place and check it out. They have 2 outlets in Bali itself. In Kuta, it is on Sunset Road. They're open daily from 11am till 10pm.

Other than foot massage, they also have full body, head, face massage as well. I wish I had the chance to try everything but unfortunately, this trip is too short!

I'll miss Bali especially for this!

I dont wanna go home!!!! I feel good!

Sun Island Spa, Bali

This is my first spa experience outside Malaysia since I started this blog. I was really excited to experience this especially in Bali.

This is my first time in Bali. I stayed at this wonderful private villa called Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa in Seminyak. This villa is right smack in the centre of Seminyak and approximately 10 minutes drive from Kuta Beach. Location is fantastic. A lot of shops and a very busy area indeed.

I got this package from Matta Fair last April and the package includes 1 hour spa at the villa. When we checked in, the villa wasnt exactly ready so the kind General Manager of the villa Mr. Ismullah offered us an additional hour at the spa. At first I was only planning to get an hour massage but since we got another free hour, let's just make full use of that!

The Villa is nice with modern contemporary Balinese architecture. I had a very very warm greeting from the lady at the front desk.

The treatment room was ok. Nothing super fantastic, very basic, plain, modern and simple.

I opted for an hour massage and was given a free hour of facial.

Massage was alright, nothing too special. Pressure was a bit too soft for me. The therapist did ask me if the pressure was ok and it is my fault for not pointing out to her but since the whole thing was free (part of the package of this holiday), I didnt expect it to be good. Kind of like what I experienced in Cameron Highlands' Resort. Since it's free, dont expect too much kind of thing.

Next was the facial. I've never gone for facial at a spa before. It's because I am so used to Dermalogica facial that to me, other facials are just not as good.
Well, it's true.

Facial was ok, nothing great. I would say it was all average.
The mask was horrible tho. She left it a bit too long and I was getting a bit too bored and plus, I knew I would get breakouts after that. True enough!

So basically, my first spa experience in Bali is only average. It was a good experience tho and plus, it was free so I cant complain too much.
It was all ok..except for the mask in the end which was so totally bad for my skin.

Since the 1 hour massage was free and since the additional hour (facial) was also free, then I guess it wasnt too bad. I'm not sure if I'd pay to have anything done there but knowing me, I might.

Still it was very nice of the GM to offer us that free facial. At least I got a good face scrub.

Fish Therapy

My colleague came up to me one day to ask about Fish Therapy. She asked if it was good and all that. Of course I said it's the best thing ever!

So one morning, she asked if I got her sms. I said no. She told me that she tried the Fish Therapy in Ikano and the fishes were really big. She went on to say that it was really ticklish and she was screaming and all.

I got really curious. Fish Therapy... big fishes? hmm.....that's interesting. The one I always go to dont have big fishes. Maybe they're better than the tiny fishes?
I must check this thing out.

On Friday, I decided to go to Ikano to try this thing out. My colleague gave me the phone number of the place so I called to ask where the shop is in Ikano and all that.
The guy told me that they dont have a shop. The one in Ikano is just a roadshow and they're actually going from one shopping centre to another or something along that line.

When I got to Ikano, I saw the "area" where they had this roadshow. It is next to Crocs and it's this small tiny hut and the fishes are in this small acquarium/tank thingy. You just sit there and put your legs in. Small tank with wires here and there. Not very nice.

I took a look at those big fishes. First of all, they're bigger than the usual ones I'm used to but they're not THAT big.

RM30 for half an hour.

A lot of people tried.
Since I was there I just tried although I was really disappointed with the whole place. It's this tiny place at the corner.

I was told that the big ones are "sick" and they had to rest them in a seperate tank. So there was only the small and medium sized ones to try.

When I put my legs in, not many came. Apparently if they dont come to you, it means they're probably sick. So I'm not surprised if they're all falling sick especially since the tank dont look all that clean.

In Bangsar, we had to sort of scrub our feet before getting in the pool but this one, you just need to rinse a bit.

So if you're in Ikano, pls dont try this place out. It's not clean!
And for an additional RM8 you can be in a nice place in Bangsar, with nice healthy fishes...

Beijing Natural Health Care

My back was aching, which shows that I've been working too hard. I am starting to feel tired (and lazy) and I need a massage!

Since I was in high school, I've been having this back/shoulder pain everytime I spend too long on the computer. It comes and go but whenever I spend too long in front of the computer, it is a sign that I've been working too hard and therefore deserves some pampering.

I decided to go for a massage but this time, I didnt want those relaxation oil massage. I wanted to go for those pressure point massage. I know a place that does that.... so I head to Beijing Natural Health Care in Taman Tun yesterday. This place is always full and since it was a public holiday and all, on the way there, I was really hoping that they're not. I was desperate for a massage.

Luckily it was empty.

I went for an hour of full body massage. I've been here for a massage about 3 times now.

1st experience was a total nightmare. The masseuse was a lady from China and she couldnt speak a word of English or Malay. I obviously dont understand a word of Chinese. She was this tiny lady but very strong. I kept screaming "Ouch!!!!!" throughout the whole massage and she kept increasing the pressure. I swear never to go back but I went back again the second time. I probably didnt know where else to go for a massage at that time.

2nd experience was a total bliss. This time a Sabahan guy massaged me. I know it is pretty weird but I was fully dressed and all...and tried not to think about it too much. It was all done professionally, no dodgy stuff. It was really good. I think my back was healed totally.

3rd experience yesterday was good too. Surprisingly it was with that same lady from China. My back was hurting so much that I didnt care if it was going to be painful.
But it turned out to be good. She now speaks a bit of English and Malay. She understood the word "Sakit" this time.

My back feels lighter now and much better.

Beijing Natural Health Care
44, Lorong Rahim Kajai 14
Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Tel 03 77105430
Business Hours 10am-10pm

Everyone there dont speak much English and Malay. Just basic words so be prepared. Sometimes it can be a little frustrating trying to explain to them what you want.

An hour body massage (no oil) is about RM60+
They also do reflexology there and they're pretty good. A bit painful but quite nice.
For every 10 treatment you get free 1. Make sure you ask for the loyalty card for them to stamp for each of your visit there to claim for the free treatment.

They're located on the same row as Muhibbah restaurant in Taman Tun.

Enjoy!

Spas I've tried

I've been to quite a few spas already. I still feel like trying others but I'm running out of places to go. Places worth trying.

Since I started exploring this amazing spa journey, Im proud to say that I've gone to a few...

1. Khareyana Spa - One of the best places to go. It's a nice spa and the service is good too.

2. Jentayu Spa. This spa is pretty good actually. The treatment was quite alright and the price was reasonable too. Overall it was ok, just that the outdoor area wasnt properly managed. They should beautify the area a bit more.

3. Nexus Karambunai, Sabah
I enjoyed myself in Nexus. The place was beautiful and the spa was quite nice too. I only went for a massage but still got the chance to hang out in the spa.

4. Sembunyi Spa, Cyberview Lodge
I think this is quite a good spa but I didnt have that good of an experience there. But still, I'd go back there for another try.

5. Cameron Highlands Resort Spa
Now this was pretty bad. Spa was beautiful but the treatment, especially the massage was a disaster. Never going back there again.

6. Energy Day SpaThis is my favourite out of all spas I've tried. I love it there. It's nice and cozy and loved the massage and loved the scrub. I cant wait to go back there.

7. Vila Manja
Quite a good spa. I quite like it there.

8. Ozmosis Spa
I'd go back there again. I love the ginger tea. Very nice. Oh, and the treatment was good too! :)

9. Spa Indrani
Not one of my favourite. Didnt like it there although the spa is quite nice.
Dont think I'll be going back there anytime soon.

Wow...almost 10 spas..not bad!
I'm very proud of myself
I can do this full time, anytime

Thai Odyssey

My office is now in One Utama. We moved office in May and everyone is so happy to be so close to One Utama. More places to eat compared to our old office and no more parking issues. I’m just happy that I found a place to have a quick massage over lunch!

I was walking in One Utama one day during lunch and found this place called Thai Odyssey. I love the smell from outside and since my back is aching, I thought it might me a good idea to go for a back massage. Plus, I’ve never had a Thai Massage before.

I decided to go for the 30 minutes back massage.

The place is rather small and compact so there’s no way all their employees could stay in there all at the same time. They called for the masseuse to come and she came after 5 minutes, from god knows where!

I was told to sit on this lazy chair and first she massaged my head and neck. It felt good.
Then she told me to sit on the stool and she started doing her ‘thang’. She was swinging me around and getting me to do all sorts of stretching. It was weird but it felt good.
I was loving it.

30 minutes back massage cost RM40.00. Was it worth it? Hmm… I’m not too sure. It felt good at the time but I was still having back aches and didn’t feel good after the massage.
The place was a bit too small and I wasn’t all that comfortable.

But knowing me, I’d come back again for a quick massage over lunch!

Check out their website! Thai Odyssey

Spa Indrani

I've heard a lot about this spa and wanted to give it a go. I went to Starhill to check it out. See if the place is nice or not first, if not, then I might just pick something else.

Spa Indrani is located on the Pamper Level of Starhill. They have few other Spas there too. When I got there, Spa Indrani was closed. No one was there. It's a bit weird considering it was a Saturday. Shouldnt they be open at this time?

I called them up and was told that they had some major problem at the Spa and had to close it down for a day. I asked if they will be opened tomorrow and he said yes so I decided to make an appointment.

I didnt know what package to go for and the guy on the phone suggested to try the Hangover Package. According to the brochure, this package includes

Refreshing Mint Body Scrub
Eucalyptus Relaxing Foot Bath
Aromatherapy Massage
Head & Scalp Therapy
Indrani Refreshments

Sounds good!

On Sunday, I got a call from them telling me that due to the major problem that they had, the credit card machine is not functioning and they can only receive cash payments. I said ok.

I got there on time for my treatment. I was greeted by the therapist and I think she must have been Indonesian. I was directed to the treatment room. It looks alright, not like what I expected. Minimal decorations and quite a modern feel. The room was quite small.

My treatment started with 15 minutes session in the steam room. The steam room was a bit ‘funky’. One of those portable steam rooms with colourful lightings inside. Then I spent some time in the Hydrotherapy pool and then took a shower before going back to the treatment room.

Next was the massage. 1 half hours of aromatherapy massage. I must say I wasn’t quite impressed with the massage. The therapist had a flu and kept walking in and out of the room. She kept blowing her nose and that made me feel quite irritated. Massage wasn’t even that good. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. She spent way too much time massaging my legs and not that long massaging my back. The pressure wasn’t that strong and she didn’t bother checking to see if the pressure was ok.
The music was quite loud too. Instead of playing soothing music, they had some jazzy R&B ish type of music playing. Don’t get me wrong, the music was good, part of the reason why I couldn’t fall asleep but it wasn’t very spa’ish kind of song if u know what I mean.

After the massage was the scrub. I think another therapist must have done the scrub for me. Scrub was ok but I wasn’t all that impressed either. Finally, to remove the scrub, I was again directed to the shower room. When I got back to the treatment room, the therapist gave me a foot bath and then the treatment was ok.

I must say I was a bit disappointment with this spa. The treatment wasn’t all that great and I didn’t enjoy my massage. Especially since she kept walking in and out of the room. I think she wasn’t feeling well or something.
Music was a bit distracting too.

After I got dressed and ready, the therapist waited outside and giggling and asked if it was ok to tip her! I mean, come on. What the hell is that? I couldn’t say no could I, so I gave her RM10.00! I didn’t even enjoy the treatment.

In the leaflet that I got, the price for the Hangover Package is RM388 but paid RM446.20 after tax and service charge and all that. Not really worth it I think. And they didn’t even serve refreshments! Even after the session in the steam room!

Im glad I gave this spa a shot but I don’t think I will be coming back.

If you wish to give it a go, here are the details:

Which Spa?

I'm really running out of spas to try. Do let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. I am due for my next spa trip in a few days.

I'm thinking either:

1. Spa Indrani in Starhill
2. Swasana Spa in Impiana Hotel KLCC
3. Hammam Spa in Bangsar Village 2

If I must go back to one of the spa's I've tried before, I think I would go back to Energy Day Spa but I think I should try other places first.

I wouldnt mind going back to Ozmosis just to have the Ginger Tea. It was yummy! :)

Ozmosis Spa

I’ve been wanting to check this place out for ages but somehow never got the chance. I walked in to make an appointment. I was quite impressed. The place is bigger and nicer than I thought. The staff at the reception was also very nice and helpful.

My appointment was at 10am but I arrived 20 minutes late. I called at 9.30am to ask if it was ok for me to reschedule the appointment to 11am instead but the girl said no because they already have another appointment booked at that time. I informed them that in that case, I will be late and she said ok.

When I got there, I was told to choose my massage oil and scrub. They gave me the options and it was all in front of me on the table but the therapist did not explain to me the difference or benefits of each. I didn’t know how to choose. Ya the look and smell different but other than that, how do I choose. I had to ask and then she explained a little bit. I was not very impressed.

Then I was taken to the treatment room. The room was nice but very small. I was expecting to hear really nice relaxing and soothing spa songs but instead, I could only hear the sound of the aircond.

First was the body scrub. I decided to go for the Romanic Rose Floral Scrub. I still don’t know what it’s good for but it just smells nice and sweet. Scrub was ok. Quite good I think. Next is the Aromatherapy Steam. I was sat in the steam room for about 15 minutes. The room is very small but good enough. Then, I got a 90 minutes body massage.

The massage was alright. Nothing to shout about. It was good but not fantastic.
I felt that the pressure wasn’t strong enough and also at times, I wondered if she knew what she was doing.

Once I got dressed, I was told to wait at the other room outside. They served the best ginger tea. I loved that. It was nice and sweet and perfect. I love it so much. I wanted to ask for more but was too malu!

Overall, this spa meets my expectation. The interior and décor was nice. It is a little bit small but I quite like it. They use good products there including Dermalogica products so that’s good. The staff were friendly but it would have been better if they could educate us more about their products and services.

The package I took is called Ozmosis Escapade which is RM310 and it includes Scrub, Steam and 45 minutes massage. 45 minutes massage is not enough so I had to top up another RM140 for another 45 minutes so the total bill was RM450 for about 2.5 hours. I think that’s quite pricey.

Will I go back?

Hmm… yea I might come back to try other stuff and to have the ginger tea. Yum Yum.
Parking is a problem around Telawi area so the best bet is to park inside Bangsar Village II and walk across. After the spa, you can enjoy the food at La Bodega. That’s what I did!

You can give it a go

Facial

I’ve been interested in beauty products since I was in primary school. I started young in this area. I remember when I was a kid still, my mum used to tell me about what to do and how to look after my skin and all that. She doesn’t practice it tho!

I tried all sort of products from the cheapest, to the most expensive ones. So far, nothing suits my skin better than Dermalogica products. I do mix and match with some other products too. While I was in uni, for some reason, my skin weren’t that good. I tried all sorts but nothing used to work until I found a place in Cardiff that sells Dermalogica products. I’ve been using this since I was 16 so I know it works on me but yet, I still like to try other products too. I just want to see if I can find something better.

When I came back from UK, my skin couldn’t take the sudden change in weather and it became really really bad. I was so ugly!!!
I tried going for facial at a few places….

1.New York Skin Solution – this was the worst out of all that I’ve tried. The facial itself was ok. It was 2 hours or more and I really felt pampered but after the facial, I got more breakouts and it was really bad. I also didn’t like the staff there pushing and kind of forcing me to sign up for a package which was over 3000bucks. I told them I’d think about it but they kept bugging and wouldn’t take no for an answer. I even said I didn’t bring my credit card and they wanted to escort me to a cash point. Crazy. I never went back there. Especially since the product obviously didn’t work on me.

2.CN Beauty in Bangar – This was quite alright actually. I had a good facial. I was introduced to the hot stone therapy during the facial and absolutely loved it.

3.Cant remember but its in Amcorp Mall– It was recommended to me by a friend but somehow it wasn’t as nice as I’d like it to be. I never went back but they’ve been sending me regular sms’es whenever there is a promotion and I find it to be so damn irritating. I told them to take me out from the list but sms kept coming.

And then I had enough…

So I went back to Dermalogica and been there since.

I go for facial every 3 weeks at the Leonard Drake in Bangsar Shopping Centre.
Price is alright. Still affordable. They will call you one day before your appointment to remind you of the appointment. They’re quite good.
The only thing is, everytime you go there, it’s a different therapist. I would prefer if it was the same person so that she knows your skin and if your skin is better since the last facial. Right now they do keep a record but if it was the same person then they’ll know your skin better.

I don’t have flawless skin. How I wish. But it’s ok.

Products I use:

1.Cleanser – Dermalogica, Essential Cleansing Solution.
2.Toner – Dermalogica, Multi Active Toner
3.Moisterizer – SKII, Facial Lift Emulsion
4.SKII, Facial Treatment Essence (Don’t know what its for but apparently it’s good so I’m trying it out now!)
5.For spots – Dermalogica, Gentle Soothing Booster (highly recommended!)
6.Scrub – St. Ives, Apricot Scrub
7.Day Eye Cream – Dermalogica, Total Eye Care with spf15
8.Night Eye Cream – St. Ives, Eye Stress Gel

So far both the eye cream is not working very well for me. I’m thinking of changing but I don’t know to which one.

That’s it. That’s how I stay pretty 

Stress Relief

I was in Petronas Twin Towers at my client’s office till 5.40pm on Friday. When my boyfriend arrived to pick me up it was already 6pm and there was a massive jam everywhere. It was almost impossible to get out of town.

It took us half and hour just to get from KLCC to Jalan Tun Razak. I was already feeling a bit dizzy after seeing cars everywhere at every corner of town. Since we were nearby Jalan Damai, we decided to pop by Vila Manja for a massage.

We went in for an hour massage and by the time we finish, there was still traffic! Glad we spent an hour at Vila Manja rather than in the car.

I didn’t quite enjoy the massage this time around. I asked for strong pressure but the girl was a junior and the pressure was too light for my liking. But nonetheless, it was ok.

RM158 for an hour massage.

The environment there is very relaxing. I’d still go back there!

For Reflexology
1. Rawatan Reflexology Segar

Tel: 03-9056 1533
RM48 per hour for reflexology
RM40 for the foot bath (to get rid of toxic)

Note: The owner, Cindy is about 70 years old and she still looks darn good for an old lady. She used to massage the Sultanah of Pahang even!

2. Lin Tze Physical Therapy Centre
Add: 10A, Lorong Ara Kiri Dua, Lucky Garden, Off Jalan Bangsar
Tel: 03-2094 6743
RM35 per hour for reflexology

Note: They do full body massage as well there. I used to come here a lot. The technique they use is slightly different. It’s a bit painful but I find it absolutely relaxing. I love it here. You will really feel like floating after an hour of reflexology.

3. New Shujin Reflexology
Add: Lot S026, 2nd floor, Sungai Wang Plaza
Tel: 03-2145 3693

Note: This place is also very good. If I’m in Sungai Wang or around the area then I’ll have the foot massage here. They do good back massage too. I used to have backache and this place is the only place that will make my back feel better. The only thing is, it’s out of the way for me so I only come here when I’m in Sungar Wang or around the area.

Manicure/Pedicure
Pro Nails
Address: Centrepoint, Bandar Utama. Next to 7Eleven
Tel: 03-77267885

Note: You need to make an appointment otherwise don’t dream of getting your nails done here. They do perfect French manicure!

Fish Therapy
Garra Ruffa Fish Therapy
Address: Bangsar Telawi. Next to Al Rahji bank.
RM38 for half an hour.

Weekend

On Saturday, I decided to pamper myself (again) cuz I deserve a reward for working for 5 days straight :P

Saturday
1st stop: Full leg wax – Bangsar
Waited for ½ hour before giving up..I didn’t want to be late for my 2nd stop. This place is always full. No point making an appointment as they’re always busy and you’ll end up waiting anyway. They do threading as well there and they’re quite good.

2nd stop: Manicure & Pedicure – Centrepoint, Bandar Utama
This place is also very busy. It’s a small little place called Pro Nails. They’re really good. They give a good foot scrub! Apart from the usual manicure/pedicure, they also do waxing. Since I didn’t achieve anything at my 1st stop, I thought I could get it done here but they were fully booked. Managed to get my manicure and pedicure done so at least this stop is a success!

3rd stop: Full leg wax – Bangsar (2nd try!)
Again it was full. I couldn’t be bothered to wait but wanted to get it done desperately. So I walked a few blocks and went to another place instead. I’ve never been to this place for waxing before so I wasn’t sure if they’d do a good job. Turned out to be ok. The usual place is better but this will do. Cost me RM40 for a full leg wax and RM5 for threading my eyebrows.

4th stop: Fish Therapy – Garra Rufa, Bangsar
I’m addicted to this. I don’t know how to describe the feeling but it is therapeutic.
I love it.
I tried it the first time only a week ago and now I’m hooked. I shouldn’t have gone after a pedicure cuz after a good food scrub, there’s not much left stuff for the fishes to eat.

Sunday
5th stop: Reflexology – Seri Petaling
I go for reflexology about 2wice a week. It’s a routine. But I was recently introduced to this thing they have here to get rid of toxic in your body. Basically it is a foot soak/bath with this machine in the tiny basin and after 30 minutes, you can really see all the toxic from your body. I get that done once a week.
This place is good because they really let you know what to eat and what not to eat, your problem areas and all that. My mum recommended this place to me. She suffers from really bad migraine and whenever it hits her, she will come running to this place and so far, this place is the only thing she needs during her migraine attacks. She doesn’t rely on medication anymore since coming to this place.

So that’s my weekend. I love this kind of weekends. I wish it was longer.
I need to figure out what to do next weekend. Cant be going manicure every weekend now, or can I? hmm….

Welcome

Welcome to my spa blog!

I love going to the spa and I love to pamper myself. I can’t think of anything else I rather do than spending some time at the spa, so I’ve decided to have a blog just to share my spa stories. I have no idea if this will be an interesting read but at least I can keep track of the places that I've gone to for spa treatments.

If you know any spa, preferably in KL, please do drop me a line. Even if you’ve never gone to the spa but heard or seen it and think it might be worth a try, let me know. I’m running out of place to go!
