Massage during Pregnancy

OK..I know a lot of people have different views about this. Some say it's good to still 'pamper' urself with a massage during pregnancy while other feel you shouldnt cuz it might harm the baby.

Honestly speaking, I DONT KNOW the answer. I dont know if it is safe or not. Scary isnt it? Especially for someone who is a spa addict. Imagine not having a massage for the whole 9 months..and on top of that, the first few weeks after labour. That's like almost 10 months...almost a whole freaking year. And once you have the baby, when do u actually have time to go for massages anyway???
So basically, your life is over.
At least that's how I feel.

For the first few months of my pregnancy, I was really itching for a massage. Really really itching for it.I kept asking hubby when can we go for massage, when can we go for reflexology, bla bla bla.
This being our first pregnancy and it's not even easy to get pregnant (tried for almost 6 months before getting pregnant), we of course didnt want to do anything stupid. Especially since the rate for miscarriage in the first trimester is quite high.

People say, wait till the first trimester is over....then u can explore, if it's ok to go for a massage.
As soon as I entered 2nd trimester, I asked my doctor and she gave me a green light. In fact, she said it's good to go for a massage cuz she knows being pregnant can make u feel extra tired etc, so massage is a good way to relax. Clearly, I chose the right dr. Love her! :)

Ozmosis Spa in Telawi Bangsar (above La Bodega) have really good pregnancy massage. A bit mahal but I think quite worth it. But the massage is only for 45 mins... Not enough for me. I need at least an hour.

Recently, since receiving the OK for my doc, I've been going for my regular massage at Khareyana Spa in PJ. They're good and price is reasonable too. The normal price for a massage is about RM160 if I'm not mistaken for one half hour but if you sign up for the package, it's only RM520 for 4 sessions, which comes to only about RM130 per massage for one half hour. BARGAIN!!!!

There are only 2 therapist that does pregnancy massage in Khareyana. Pauline and Novi. Both are well trained and both are good. But they'll only take you in at 3 months onwards...

I still dont know if it's safe or not. Fingers crossed it is. I know Im taking a huge risk here but mummy needs her massage in order to carry the little one better. :)
InsyaAllah, it's ok.

Pls make sure you inform the spa in advance that you are pregnant when you make the appointment.
You need to make sure they're aware that you are pregnant so that they know where not to massage (i.e stomach area etc). I also found out that certain traditional lulur (scrub) is also not safe for the baby because of the ingredient, they're a bit 'sharp' so even if you're going for a massage, you need to inform them that you are pregnant.
