Freckles?! Noooo!!!!

I had my facial last week at Dermalogica. My usual beautician was off on that day so I had another beautician to do the facial for me.

I told her to do the same treatment I did the last time, which was:

1. Skin Polishing
2. Neck Facial
3. Eye Treatment

Before the facial, she did a check on my skin. She told me that I have pigmentation (freckles. Yeah, I knew that.
Somehow, she managed to freak me out. I'm a malay, I have brown skin so why do I have freckles? I usually associate freckles to fair people, like the mat salleh or the chinese and it's funny to me that I have them. Especially since I dont expose myself to the sun at all. Most of the them I'm indoors.

After the facial, I decided to get a sunblock. I actually have one but I dont really like how my skin feels after applying that Shiseido sunblock. It's spf 50 though and it was only RM99.00. Bargain!!
I finally got myself this Dermalogica sunblock instead. RM236 for a smaller bottle.
But nevermind, I bet it's a lot better.

So hopefully no more new freckles!

Professional Make Up

My engagement is coming soon and I dont know where to get my make up done.
I've done my make up in MAC KLCC before but my other half seem to think that I look 'weird' after the make up. The make up artist himself looked pretty weird so when my boyfriend saw him 'painting' my face, he already had that idea that all that make up will look weird on me. Also because he doesnt like me wearing too much and I dont look like myself. Me on the other hand feel that I look better with make up, especially extreme make up on! So, a little bit of a dilemma there.

This lady in MAC did my make up once and she was good. She sold over RM2000 worth of products to me that time. She made me look like a better version of myself. Natural look. I remember it was probably 5 years back and I went there to purchase make up for university. Yes, I was really vain!
I asked her for make up I could wear to uni. So she recommended a whole bunch of stuff and in the end, she gave me a free makeover. I looked so good that day.

That night, I went out with my then boyfriend. He didnt say a word about how I looked and I was like, "heelllloooo, cant you tell that I'm wearing make up?!"
And he was like "ohhh...no wonder you look different, I was just thinking to myself that you look different and prettier today" hmm...dont know whether he was just trying to cover his ass or it was a real sincere compliment but I think I'll just take it as that!

So this lady at MAC, her name is..hmm.......shida or something like that. She still works there cuz I see her there sometimes but it's so hard to get hold of her. She's always not there. Perhaps I could try and get her to do my make up for the engagement.

Any other suggestions??

Hammam style

It's time for my monthly spa Sunday. I havent been pampering myself much lately. I guess I've been busy. Initially I wanted to go to one of those Martha Tilaar Spa but when I called the Dewi Sri Spa in Hartamas, unfortunately, it is a ladies only spa and I wanted to drag my other half along with me so I had to pick a different spa.
But which?

I did my research online and decided to give Hammam Spa a go. I read some of the reviews on the internet and they all say the same thing. That it's different. Really different from the other spas. So I thought I might as well check this out.

I called them on Saturday to make an appointment for Sunday morning but they were fully booked. The only slot available for Sunday is at 3pm.

We got there on time and we had to fill up a form since it is our first time there. We were also informed of the treatment that we're going to get, which is called Royal Couple Hammam. Sounds 'grand'....must be good...
The explanation was really clear and we sort of knew what to expect. I had already read reviews on this spa so I roughly know what to look for and all that but my other half still looked a bit confused.

When we first got into the spa, it was really different. I dont know how to explain but it is really nice inside. You surely wont expect it to look like that if you walk past the spa from outside. It's really nice inside. Makes you feel like you're in Morocco or something. Reminds me Aladdin :)

First was a step inside the steam room. It's not like those typical steam room at all. Its really different. You just have to go and experience it yourself. You really cant see where the steam or heat is coming from but the marble walls are all hot and it's humid in there. But it's not too warm, it's just nice.
The therapist will then ask you to remove the robe (basically you're topless and will only have your disposal underwear on!) and she will shower and soap you! I was expecting this (from the reviews that I've read) but still was not prepared for it! It's just weird...but I try to not think about it too much. I just let her do her job.
This moroccan lady showered me with warm water first and then she will apply this black cream thingy (cant remember what it's called) and this is suppose to open your pores or something like that. I was left in there for about 10 minutes. I was told to lie down in that room. The walls are all warm and it was a bit uncomfortable to just lie down on the marble but it wasnt too bad cuz I fell asleep for about 5 minutes.

Then I was brought to the room next door and thats where the scrubbing starts. She put on this hand mit thing and starts scrubbing. You can see this black stuff coming out of you...layers of dead skin cells. Once that is done, she will shower you again and bring you back to the steam room and put on the body mask and leave you to lie down in there again for another 10 mins. Again, I fell asleep. It's so easy to fall asleep in there but it was so uncomfortable. Especially since I feel so exposed!

After that she showered me to remove the mask and then soaped me with the shower gel.
She also washed and shampooed my hair. I really felt like a princess. I didnt have to do anything myself. It's like you just sit there and she'll do everything for you.
I could get used to that :)

Next we were brought to the private room to get our massage. The room was really nice and cozy and the bath tub area was nice and romantic. With candles and all.
It really was romantic in there. We were told to relax and have a glass of water and some snacks before the massage.

The 75 minutes massage was also very nice. I really enjoyed it a lot.
I really needed that. It was perfect.
I seldom fall asleep during massages cuz I would normally be complaining in my heart about how I wish the pressure was stronger or talking to myself in my heart about the spa or something but this time, I was really totally relaxed.
I fell asleep.

When I woke up, it was almost over. I was a bit disapointed that I was asleep rather than enjoying the massage. I remember how she massaged my legs and it was so nice. I remember she massaged my shoulder and that was nice too and then that's it. I was on cloud 9 and in another world.

Finally it was time for the bath. That was normal...nothing great...with roses and all so that was nice.

It's surely was a different experience. I'd come back again for sure.

I quite like being 'royal'

The couple spa - Royal Couple Hammam took about 3 hours all together and cost RM650.
But until 15th August, we get 20% off so it only cost us RM520. Not bad at all.

You have to try this spa. Just for the experience of being treated like a turkish princess :)
